Please be advised that the Patient Access portal replaced the previous method of submitting prescription requests on 27th July 2015.

If you would like to continue ordering your repeat medications online you will need to register for Patient Access.

You can do so by clicking here and requesting a registration letter, or speak to our reception team who will be happy to print off a letter for you.

If you have already registered for Patient Access to book online appointments, there is no need to re-register.

There are certain medications which will not be prescribed without seeing the doctor. If you take medication on a long-term basis you will be given a computerised prescription re-ordering slip. This allows you to re-order repeat medication without seeing the doctor. The repeat prescription slip should be handed into the surgery at least two working days before you require your prescription.

You can, alternatively, post this to us with a stamped addressed envelope, circling the items you require and we will post your repeat prescription back to you. To ensure accuracy and efficiency, routine repeat prescriptions will never be accepted over the telephone.

You can also call in and ask at reception. Your prescription will be available for you to pick up in two working days. Please call into the surgery for your prescription after 2.00pm on the day it is due.

Speak to your pharmacist as they may be able to collect and deliver your prescription to you. Your prescription will normally be ready for collection in 48 hours (unless you request medications that are not on your repeat medication list - see below), ie two full working days after your request is received. Please do not ask the doctor during a consultation or on a home visit for a repeat prescription.

After a specified number of repeats, you may be required to see the doctor or the nurse for a review to ensure that all is well before further prescriptions are issued. Any inconvenience caused by this is regretted, but we feel this policy is essential to good medical practice.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE REQUESTING MEDICATIONS

Acute (one-off) medications: These are medications that are issued by the GP during a consultation to relieve or fight symptoms you may be experiencing. If you require more of these medications, you will need to see the doctor again, at which point they may choose to stop the medication, issue a further acute (one-off) prescription, or add the medication as a repeat medication.

Repeat medications: These are medications that a doctor requires you to continue taking until you are due a review. Only these medications can be ordered on a monthly basis without the need to see a GP.

If you request medication that is not on your list of repeat medications, or is on your list of repeat medications but isn't due for reissuing, this request will need to be seen by a doctor AND MAY DELAY YOUR PRESCRIPTION BEING READY WITHIN 2 WORKING DAYS.
